COOPER DELIVERED • ETHICS • SUSTAINABILITY • TRANSPARENCY

Our Ethics: Honest, Sustainable Haircare Without the Perfection

Sustainability is not about being born perfect. It is about what you choose once you can see more clearly.

Cooper Delivered was not built from environmental perfection.

It was built through awareness, lived experience, trial and error, burnout, healing and the decision to keep choosing better wherever possible.

This is the honest version of our sustainability journey: where we came from, how our products are currently made, what we believe and what we are working towards from rural Western Australia.

Cooper Delivered sustainable haircare and off-grid lifestyle in rural Western Australia

Our Position

What does ethical haircare mean to Cooper Delivered?

Ethical haircare means making decisions with greater awareness of product performance, environmental impact, packaging, manufacturing, communication and the people involved throughout the process.

It means being honest about where our products are currently manufactured.

It means avoiding miracle promises and environmental claims we cannot support.

It means reducing unnecessary waste, developing reusable systems and working towards future Australian manufacturing.

It also means acknowledging that every product and business has an impact.

Our position is not perfection.

It is transparency, responsibility and continued improvement.

The Truth

I was not born into an eco household, and I was not always living this way

My parents did the best they could with what they had, and I do not come from some perfect environmental origin story.

I came through hairdressing.

If you know the industry properly, you know how much waste can move through a salon.

Foils, gloves, colour tubes, plastic bottles, disposable items, product waste and endless deliveries can become so normal that people stop seeing them.

But I loved hairdressing.

I loved the sound of scissors, the rhythm of the salon, the hair falling on the floor, the transformation and the craft.

Hairdressing had my whole heart.

I completed my apprenticeship, worked as a senior hairdresser across salons in Western Australia and later ran my own business in Bassendean for years.

I worked six days a week until I burnt myself out.

Then I stepped into the corporate world and found a different kind of disconnection.

More paper. More systems. More waste that appeared normal because I had not yet learned to question it.

Once I began seeing the waste around me more clearly, I could not unsee it.

Back to My Roots

Hairdressing never really left me

At some point, I realised I wanted to return to my roots in hairdressing, but not to the same salon environment that had drained me.

I still loved the skill, the science and the connection created behind the chair.

I did not want the burnout, the politics or the version of the industry that no longer felt like home.

Social media had changed the beauty world too.

When I stepped away, it was one industry.

When I looked back, it had become a different universe filled with influencers, fast trends, white-label products, louder marketing and less clarity about who actually knew what they were talking about.

Somewhere in that search for a new way back into haircare, I found shampoo bars.

Returning to haircare felt right.

This time, I wanted to build it with more awareness.

What We Believe

Progress matters more than purity

I do not believe sustainability should be policed like a religion.

I do not believe people should be shamed because they cannot replace every product, renovate their home or completely change their lifestyle overnight.

That is not real life.

Real change often looks smaller.

When something runs out, breaks or needs replacing, you consider whether a better option exists.

A bamboo toothbrush instead of another plastic one.

A natural loofah instead of another disposable plastic puff.

A reusable item instead of a single-use one.

A concentrated shampoo bar instead of another plastic bottle.

That is how many meaningful changes happen.

Not through a dramatic purge, but through repeated, more intentional decisions.

The 1% Shift

You do not need to change everything. Change one thing.

Small changes become meaningful when enough people make them repeatedly.

If every person improved one part of their home, routine or buying behaviour by one or two percent, the combined impact would be enormous.

That is the way I see it.

I am not interested in shaming people.

I am interested in helping people begin.

If all you do today is replace one item more thoughtfully, that still matters.

Learn from the change.

Let that one decision lead to the next when the time is right.

Our Ethical Commitments

What responsible beauty means to Cooper Delivered

These commitments guide the decisions we make now and the systems we are working towards.

Honest communication

We do not promise miracle results, environmental perfection or product benefits that cannot be responsibly supported.

Haircare claims should help people make informed decisions rather than exploit insecurity.

Lower-waste formats

We prioritise concentrated solid haircare and continue exploring packaging systems that reduce reliance on disposable materials.

Lower waste should still provide a useful, effective product.

Transparent manufacturing

Our current shampoo and conditioner bars are manufactured overseas in larger production runs.

We are open about that while working towards future Australian manufacturing.

Responsible improvement

We assess each part of the business honestly and improve where funding, knowledge, infrastructure and practical capacity allow.

We would rather show steady progress than present an image of perfection.

Education before fear

We explain ingredients, hair science and sustainability without relying on chemical fear, environmental shame or misleading natural-beauty claims.

Natural does not automatically mean safe, and synthetic does not automatically mean harmful.

Regional opportunity

Our long-term goal is to create manufacturing capability, employment and business opportunities in rural Western Australia.

We want growth to create something meaningful beyond the brand itself.

Responsible product use

We encourage customers to use the right amount, store products correctly and choose according to need rather than buying more than they require.

Sustainability includes reducing waste after the product reaches the customer.

Transparency over greenwashing

We will not describe a product as impact-free, completely sustainable or perfect for the planet.

Every product requires materials, energy, transport and labour.

Beyond the Packaging

Ethical haircare involves more than removing a plastic bottle

Packaging matters, but it is only one part of the product.

Responsible haircare can also involve:

• formula safety and stability

• honest product claims

• responsible manufacturing

• ingredient sourcing

• worker conditions

• transport and freight

• packaging and product lifespan

• customer accessibility

• how much product is wasted

• what happens when the product reaches the end of its life

A product is not automatically ethical because it looks natural, uses brown packaging or contains a fashionable botanical ingredient.

The full system matters.

Health Changed My Perspective

My body made me pay attention

My personal journey includes living with PCOS and endometriosis, and that experience changed the way I looked at daily life.

I slowly began paying more attention to what I used, consumed and kept around me.

I also began changing my pace, surroundings and routines.

Over time, I felt better in myself and clearer in my thinking.

I am not claiming that one product, one ingredient or one environmental change can treat a medical condition.

That would not be honest.

Some of the change may have come from country air.

Some may have come from slower living, more space, different food, reduced stress or feeling more connected to the life I was building.

What the experience taught me was to pay closer attention to what surrounds us every day without turning that awareness into fear.

How We Live

Off-grid, rural and always looking for a better option

We live largely off-grid on our rural property in Western Australia.

We currently live modularly on the land, use solar power and continue building towards a slower, more intentional life.

That includes growing food, establishing gardens, reusing materials, planning for animals and looking more closely at what comes onto the property and what eventually leaves it.

I also love organisation.

Containers calm me.

Systems calm me.

This is not about pretending that we live a flawless, plastic-free aesthetic life where nothing modern exists.

It is about replacing and improving with intention over time.

When something can be reused, I consider how to reuse it.

When plastic is difficult to avoid, I consider how it can remain useful rather than immediately becoming single-use waste.

When something needs replacing, I look for the better evolution of it.

Our connection to gardening and slower living also shapes Grow Your Own Beauty , where plants, botanical knowledge and practical beauty rituals come together.

Global Connection

Sustainability does not mean isolation

I do not believe ethical living means cutting yourself off from the world.

Travel, culture, learning and global connection have all influenced the way I see business and life.

I once met a woman from Paris while travelling in China who spoke about teaching her children not to live inside one fishbowl.

That idea stayed with me.

I love learning how different people live, think, build, create and understand the world.

Much of our property planning is influenced by feng shui, and cultural learning continues to shape the way I think about land, design and connection.

I believe thoughtful global trade can support knowledge exchange, economic opportunity and relationships across borders.

Sustainability, to me, is not about isolation.

It is about responsibility, transparency and questioning whether a better system can be built.

Where We Are Now

Building honestly instead of pretending we are already at the finish line

Our current shampoo and conditioner bars are produced overseas in larger production batches.

Manufacturing in larger batches helps reduce the need for repeated smaller shipments and allows us to maintain accessible product quantities while the business grows.

This is not our final destination.

It is our current stage.

We are also developing and testing reusable shipping systems designed to reduce reliance on disposable parcel packaging.

That work has progressed more slowly than I would like because research, testing, manufacturing and rollout require money, time and capacity.

I would rather explain that honestly than pretend everything is already complete.

Our Current Product Approach

Concentrated products designed to reduce unnecessary packaging

Solid shampoo

Concentrated shampoo bars reduce the need for a traditional plastic shampoo bottle and can last longer when used and stored correctly.

Solid conditioner

Conditioner bars provide a concentrated conditioning step without relying on a conventional bottle.

Education

We provide hairdresser-led guidance so customers can use products correctly, reduce waste and avoid buying unsuitable products.

Reusable delivery systems

We continue developing reusable packaging concepts that extend beyond one delivery and one customer.

Where We’re Heading

A long-term vision built from rural Western Australia

The dream is not small. The build is simply happening one stage at a time.

Australian manufacturing

Our long-term goal is to manufacture our core shampoo and conditioner range in Australia.

This requires equipment, formulation capability, testing, regulation, infrastructure and reliable production systems.

A rural facility in Katanning

We want to establish manufacturing capability in Katanning, Western Australia.

The longer-term vision is for the facility to support not only Cooper Delivered but potentially other haircare and beauty businesses too.

Regional employment

We want business growth to create practical employment, skills and opportunities in a regional community.

A professional hairdresser range

We plan to develop a core salon-quality range with a clear professional identity and strong hairdresser education behind it.

Travel-inspired collections

Future limited editions may draw inspiration from places, cultures, landscapes and stories encountered through travel.

Cultural inspiration should be approached thoughtfully and with context rather than used as decoration without meaning.

Reusable shipping systems

We are working towards packaging systems designed to be returned, reused, rewaxed, repurposed or kept in circulation for longer.

Technology and practical innovation

We support apps, digital tools and better systems that help people make more intentional choices and organise their lives.

A connected ecosystem

Cooper Delivered is growing beyond individual products into education, circular packaging, gardening, technology and regional manufacturing.

The Manufacturing Journey

Australian manufacturing is a goal, not a claim we are making early

Manufacturing haircare locally involves more than purchasing equipment and beginning production.

It requires:

• compliant facilities

• safe and repeatable formulations

• raw-material sourcing

• quality-control systems

• batch records and traceability

• testing and stability work

• trained staff

• packaging and storage systems

• sufficient production demand

We are not going to claim local manufacturing before that infrastructure exists.

We will continue documenting the journey honestly as it develops.

Honesty Over Perfection

No product is impact-free

Every product requires something from the world.

Materials.

Energy.

Transport.

Labour.

Packaging.

Storage.

Every business carries tension between accessibility, cost, performance and environmental responsibility.

What matters to us is awareness, intention, improvement and the willingness to speak honestly about where we are now.

How We Communicate

We avoid environmental perfection claims

Words such as green, clean, natural, non-toxic, eco-friendly and sustainable can become meaningless when they are used without explanation.

Rather than relying only on broad labels, we aim to explain the practical decision behind a claim.

For example:

We may explain that a product is concentrated and avoids a conventional plastic bottle.

We may explain that a shipping system is designed for reuse.

We may explain where a product is manufactured and what our future goal is.

We do not claim that purchasing one product will make a person sustainable or remove their environmental impact.

Ingredients and Honesty

We do not use chemical fear to sell haircare

Everything is made from chemicals, including water, plants and the human body.

An ingredient should be assessed according to its identity, concentration, intended use, safety profile and role within the full formula.

Natural origin does not automatically prove that something is safer.

Synthetic origin does not automatically prove that something is harmful.

We believe customers deserve clear explanations rather than frightening ingredient lists designed to push a sale.

Your Part in the System

Sustainability continues after the parcel arrives

The environmental life of a product does not end when a business posts it.

Customers can help reduce waste by:

• buying products suited to their actual needs

• using the appropriate amount

• allowing solid bars to dry between uses

• reusing packaging where possible

• avoiding unnecessary stockpiling

• finishing products before replacing them

• asking brands better questions

Responsibility belongs across the whole system, but businesses should carry the larger obligation to provide transparent information and design better options.

The Soul of It

This business carries my values because it carries my life

I want people to understand the person and the purpose behind Cooper Delivered.

I believe in better options.

I believe in culture and connection.

I believe in practical innovation.

I believe in craft, knowledge and building what you wish existed.

I believe people should be allowed to make mistakes, learn and keep moving forward.

I believe businesses should be honest enough to explain where they are instead of pretending they have already solved everything.

And I believe that when enough people keep making small, intentional changes, larger systems eventually have to change too.

Ethics FAQ

Questions about our sustainability and business choices

Are Cooper Delivered products made in Australia?

Our current shampoo and conditioner bars are manufactured overseas in larger production batches. Our long-term goal is to establish Australian manufacturing capability in rural Western Australia.

Why are your products currently manufactured overseas?

Overseas manufacturing currently allows us to produce reliable quantities while building the funding, equipment, infrastructure and technical capability required for future Australian production.

Is Cooper Delivered a zero-waste business?

No business is completely impact-free. We focus on lower-waste formats, reusable systems, honest communication and continued improvement rather than claiming environmental perfection.

What makes a haircare product ethical?

Ethical haircare can consider formula safety, honest claims, ingredient sourcing, manufacturing, worker conditions, packaging, transport, accessibility, product performance and what happens at the end of the product’s life.

Are shampoo bars always more sustainable than liquid shampoo?

Shampoo bars can reduce packaging and transport weight because they are concentrated, but the complete impact depends on ingredients, manufacturing, freight, storage, lifespan and how the product is used.

Does Cooper Delivered use plastic-free packaging?

We aim to reduce unnecessary single-use materials and continue developing reusable shipping and packaging systems. Current packaging practices may vary according to product requirements and business capacity.

What is Cooper Delivered’s long-term sustainability goal?

Our long-term vision includes Australian manufacturing, a rural production facility in Katanning, reusable delivery systems and infrastructure that may eventually support other haircare and beauty businesses.

Does Cooper Delivered claim to be completely sustainable?

No. We acknowledge that every product and business has an impact. Our commitment is to improve, explain our choices and avoid claims that suggest perfection.

Are natural ingredients always safer?

No. Natural origin does not automatically establish safety or suitability. Ingredients should be considered according to their concentration, purpose, evidence and role within the complete formula.

Does ethical beauty need to be expensive?

Responsible production can increase costs, but ethical beauty should also consider accessibility, product lifespan and whether customers receive genuine value rather than simply paying for environmental language.

How can customers support more responsible haircare?

Customers can buy according to need, use products fully, store them correctly, reuse packaging, reduce unnecessary purchases and ask businesses for clearer information about sourcing, manufacturing and claims.

What does the one-percent shift mean?

The one-percent shift is the belief that people do not need to change everything overnight. Repeated, achievable improvements can build meaningful collective change over time.
